The Players: Voices – Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, Donna Murphy, Ron Perlman, M.C. Gainey, Jeffrey Tambor, Brad Garrett, Paul F. Tompkins, and Richard Kiel.
The Game Plan: The story of Rapunzel, a young princess who is kidnapped from her castle in the middle of the night by the Witch, Mother Gothel. Mother Gothel keeps Rapunzel locked away from the world for 18 years in order to harness the power of a rare flower growing through Rapunzel’s hair that can stop the aging process. On her 18th birthday Rapunzel meets Flynn Ryder, a bandit who has just stolen a crown and is on the run from authorities, and his fellow partners in crime. After meeting Flynn, Rapunzel realizes she is ready to see the outside world and strikes a deal with Flynn to take her to see the floating lights, which are flown every year on her birthday. Rapunzel sets off with Flynn on the adventure of her life and along the way she learns about the world she has never seen, and herself.
Dante’s Thoughts: It’s amazing to see how far Disney has come with their 50th animated film. All you have to do is look back at those original black and white animated shorts featuring Mickey Mouse, and then look at the 3D animation in “Tangled” to really see the transition. I enjoyed the animation in this film as well as the 3D; this isn’t the type of 3D movie where only certain scenes pop out at the audience, the entire movie is done in 3D. If you don’t believe me, just take off your glasses for a few minutes, then put them back on.
Most people are familiar with the classic 19th Century fairy tale Rapunzel, by the Brothers Grimm, but for the purpose of this film Disney has added a few new twists to give the old Grimm story a fresh 21st Century feel. As always, the team at Disney finds a way to mix in some good mature jokes to make the adults in the audience feel like they are at home even though this is primarily a movie for the kids. On that note, it had been a while since I’d been to a children’s movie and I have to admit I really enjoyed “Tangled.”
Touchdowns: Modern witty dialogue and humor that engages adult viewers gives the film a fresh enjoyable feel for any age, and the 3D animation makes this movie a visual treat. Then there were the human like animal counterparts, even though they don’t have major speaking roles like we’ve seen in past Disney animated adventures, they are some of the most important players in making this a great Disney comedy.
Penalties: Yes there were at least one or two flags… The story may have been sacrificed just a little in order to add the more humorous aspects I mentioned earlier. In the end, “Tangled” isn’t the same story of Rapunzel that older members of the audience have come to know and love. Additionally, there are some scenes that show more violence than I was accustomed to seeing in a Disney animated film, but I might pick up the flag on that play, since the violence didn’t really spoil the overall story.
Game Winner: “Tangled” is a great Disney adaptation of a classic Grimm fairly tale that is suitable for all ages…It’s got humor, adventure, and good 3D animation that will make it an instant, but very modern Disney classic.

Loved this movie! So cute! Everyone should take their kids
