Jonah Hex Review
by admin on July 2nd, 2010
Jonah Hex is based off a comic and it tells the story of Jonah Hex who is in the U.S. Military and has to watch his wife and kid burned alive and left with a brand on his face and left for dead. He is believed to have supernatural forces by everyone but himself.
The film is not shot very well there are parts in the film that its hard to see what is going on especially when it is happening during the dark scenes. When Megan Fox is on the screen the camera has like a glow on her face which I think takes away from the natural look of the women in the western. The action scenes don’t even try to look real they look a little cheesy and not well organized.
Acting – Josh Brolin gives a decent performance as Jonah Hex, he doesn’t show very much emotion for someone watching his family burned alive which is an emotion you think would be able to touch into but he doesn’t tap into the pain. This was not one of Josh Malkovich best roles, he was not very convincing as a evil character like is was as Cyrus in Con-Air. He has the same face throughout the whole movie which throws me off. Megan Fox didn’t have much on screen time but at the start of her scenes she did a decent job of acting and showing emotion but as the movie continued she didn’t perform as well which in part was probably because of the character she plays.
Director - James Hayward has only directed one other movie which was an animated movie names Horton Hears a Who. In this movie you can see he hasn’t done much directing which doesn’t fair well with this movie or with all the comic lovers who were expecting a lot with this movie and it didn’t deliver.
I would give this movie a 5 out of 10 which is generous. It didn’t show me anything worth recommending to anyone.
