Salt

The cold war is not a thing of the past in this action thriller. Who is Salt? An attractive, highly respected CIA agent named Evelyn Salt who is accused by a defector of being a Russian Spy. The crime she is to allegedly commit is the assassination of the President of Russian when he comes to visit the United States. Once accused, Salt flees for fear of her and her husband’s life. As she and her boss Ted Winter fight to prove her innocence, each evasive action makes the defectors claim more plausible.
The plot for “Salt” is very edgy and really makes you think – What if there were spies who had been planted strategically around the world plotting to take over? Of course this plot is nothing new. It’s like an elite secret society myth such as the Illuminati, except in this story the accused spy is Salt (Angelina Jolie).
The story will have you believing one thing for a moment and then just the opposite the next. The film builds constant suspense, and keeps the audience guessing who’s good and who’s bad up until the end. The acting is performed well by the entire cast and like I stated earlier, the characters don’t make it easy to get a beat on which side they are on.
Angelina Jolie was perfect for the role of Salt. “Salt” is comparable to Jolie’s action sequences in “Tomb raider,” but with a better storyline and writing. The only negative I had towards the film was that the end left unanswered questions… Is there going to be a sequel? Does the story end? Does everyone go get coffee? Other than that it was a good movie.
