Jack Ass 3D
by Dante Rosario on October 28th, 2010
The Starting Line-Up: Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, Steve-O, Jason Acuna, Preston Lacy, Chris Pontius, Ehren McGhehey, Dave England, Loomis Fall, April Margera, and Phil Margera.
The Game Plan: Johnny Knoxville and crew are back with another installment of the wildly popular gag comedy series, “Jackass,” and this time around the boys are pushing the boundaries of disgusting acts, and stupid stunts to prove they can still live life on the edge.
Dante’s Thoughts: I never actually gagged while watching a movie until I saw “Jackass 3D.” I might not be a psychiatrist, but I think crazy is an appropriate term to use to describe the content of this film…crazy is also the best term to use to describe the Jackass crew, because let’s face it, these guys are crazy. While there are parts of this movie that are absolutely hilarious, it’s also equally disturbing when you see what the Jackass crew is still willing to do for a few laughs. The plot really doesn’t take much thought to understand: the Jackass crew thinks of an outlandish stunt; the Jackass crew performs the outlandish stunt; the Jackass crew does something absolutely repulsive. How do I review that?
Touchdowns: You get what you pay for, “Jackass 3D” has plenty of gross out comedy, and ridiculous stunts that will keep you entertained. The biggest play of the film and what drives the “Jackass” series is the cast’s ability to creatively come up with ideas that are taboo, which keeps audiences asking the question…what can they come up with to top that?
Penalties: There were too many parts of the film where it seemed like the Jackass crew was faking it to put over a gag or a stunt that really wasn’t that funny. I would have preferred it if those bits had been left for the outtakes reel at the end.
The Game Winner: The Jackass crew still knows its audience, and audiences are clearly still in love with the insane and immature ideas these guys come up with. Sometimes traditional dramas, or action movies don’t always win over the crowd, and there is nothing traditional about this film.
Game Summary: If you find things like feces, projectile vomiting, ripping teeth out, and showing male body parts distasteful, then “Jackass 3D” is not the film for you.
P.S., This movie is NOT for people with a weak gag reflex!
